Consultant Psychiatrist

Dr. Amer has over 34 years’ experience as a psychiatrist. He has a very strong focus on patient-satisfaction, using all his skills and energy to serve the best interests and well-being of his many appreciative patients.

From 1988 to 2001, Dr. Amer worked in Rashid Hospital, a government hospital, where he assessed and treated a wide range of psychiatric emergencies, provided inpatient care and ran outpatient clinics.

In 2001 Dr. Amer moved to work in a private clinic, but also covered many private hospitals as a visiting consultant psychiatrist, in particular the American Hospital and Neuro-Spinal Hospital.

He initiated a Dubai Police outpatient psychiatry service which ran from 2002 to 2008.

He also trained in Aviation Psychiatry and provided this service for over 20 years.

In France, from 1993 to 1994, Dr. Amer did special training in psychopharmacology and prescribing of psychotropic medications.

Dr. Amer has appeared over 27 times in national TV and media, discussing psychiatric topics and promoting mental health awareness.

He enjoys teaching and training, and has presented many lectures and workshops to General Medical Practitioners on psychiatric conditions and their management. In schools, Dr. Amer has given psychoeducational talks to teachers, school counsellors, students and parents, about various psychiatric conditions, especially anxiety disorders and ADHD.

Dr. Amer treats most mental health conditions, but his particular interests include anxiety disorders, depression, and a special interest in ADHD.
